Safari at Satpura
The resort sits on the edge of Satpura Tiger Reserve, one of the quieter, less-trafficked parks in central India, and the only one where you can step out of the jeep and walk. Tigers, leopards, gaur, sloth bears, and a forest dense with sambar, wild dog, and Indian giant squirrel. Our naturalists arrange morning and afternoon wildlife safaris from the resort gate and handle permits, entry, and pickups — from a single drive to a multi-day tour or safari package built around your dates.

4 Kinds of Safari
Satpura allows experiences that most central-Indian parks don't, including foot safaris and canoe drifts on the Denwa. We'll match the format to your interest and how long you have.
Walking Safari
Sunrise · Buffer Zone
Satpura is the only Indian park where guided foot safaris are permitted. Slower, quieter, and led by an armed forest guard: the way to read tracks, listen to alarm calls, and notice the smaller forest.
Canoe Safari
Sunrise · Sunset
Drift down the Denwa in a paddle canoe: gaur and sambar come to drink at the banks, marsh crocodiles sun themselves, and malabar pied hornbills cross overhead. The most peaceful way to be on the river.
Night Safari
After Sunset · Buffer Zone
A guided drive into the buffer after dusk: civets, leopards on the move, nightjars, and the occasional sloth bear. Run only in select pockets, with limited permits, so plan ahead.
When to Go
2 Slots a Day
The park opens at sunrise and runs 2 sessions: morning is best for tigers, afternoon for big herd activity. Times shift slightly with the season; reception will confirm on the day.
Morning Safari
Sunrise - 10:30 AM
The cool window: predator movement is highest, alarm calls cut through the still air, and the light is at its best for photography. Pickup from the resort 45 minutes before sunrise.
Afternoon Safari
3:00 PM - Sunset
A slower start but herds gather at the waterholes and the late golden hour catches the forest properly. Best paired with the previous morning's drive; predators often return to the same trail.
Night Safari
After Sunset · 2 hours
A buffer-zone drive in the dark: civets, owlets, occasional leopards on the road, and the smaller forest waking up. Limited permits: please request at least 3 days ahead.
How It Works
From Booking to the Gate
Permits & Booking
Tell reception your safari preferences at check-in: we book online permits, assign zones, and confirm seats. Online permits open 120 days ahead; weekend slots fill fast, so flag your dates in your stay enquiry.
Pickup & Drop
An open jeep collects you from the resort gate 45 minutes before the slot begins and brings you back after, usually 4 to 5 hours door-to-door. Tea, water, and a small breakfast hamper are sent along on morning drives.
What to Bring
Earth tones (no bright colours), closed shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and a light layer for early mornings. Binoculars and a camera with a long lens are useful but not essential; we carry a shared pair.
Best Time of Year
October to June: the park closes through the monsoon (July-September). March to June is hottest and best for sightings; November to February is cooler but green and rich in bird life.
